Description
This painting depicts Goddess Lalithā Tripurasundarī, the Supreme Cosmic Mother, inspired by a dhyāna mantra from the Lalithā Sahasranāma. In the mantra, she is described as seated upon Pañcāpretāsana — a throne of five corpses — representing the five divine masculine deities: Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Rudra, Īśāna, and Sadāśiva. By sitting atop them, the Goddess illustrates that even these great gods are lifeless without her life-giving grace.
Through this painting, the energy of Lalithā Devi is captured as radiant, sovereign, and deeply benevolent. She is the source of creation, sustenance, and dissolution, holding the universe within her being while offering protection, guidance, and auspiciousness to all devotees. Her presence in this artwork is a visual meditation, drawing the viewer into a sacred space of reverence, contemplation, and devotion.
